Facilities

This 13th Century Inn has 15 en-suite bedrooms accessed by two staircases. The Bar and Lounge and dining rooms have massive oak beams, inglenook fire places and character gained from hundreds of years of being an Inn.

For your pleasure and comfort

There are many interesting features such as the wooden panelling from a Spanish Armada ship and a part set of Elizabethan Bowling skittles. Many other items of interest are scattered around the many rooms which are full of nooks and crannies.

The restaurant offers a wide choice of dishes on our a la carte menue, which are made from local produce, an extensive wine selection, four real ales, and a large selection of fine malts.

Breakfast

When you come down to breakfast, after 8.15 am and 9.30 am, please help yourself to juice and cereal and fruit available on the self-service breakfast bar, and take it to your table.

Once you are seated, a waiter or waitress will come and take your order for tea, coffee, toast and a cooked breakfast if required.

As our food is freshly cooked there may be from time to time a short wait at busy periods.

Lunch

Monday - Saturday, lunch is served between 12noon and 2.00pm

We have a lunch time menu which includes "Bar Snack" types of meal available from the bar, where orders may also be placed. You may eat in the bar, the lounge or the garden if you wish.

On Sundays we have our famous Sunday lunches

We hope that you might join some of the regulars who eat here in our restaurants on Sundays at the Old Church House Inn. You may on that occasion find that you are sitting at a different table in another part of the hotel.

Dinner

Orders for the evening meals are taken from 7.00 pm until 9.15 pm

Please collect the menus from the bar.

You may like to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the bar whilst making your choices, or go directly to your table, please tell a member of staff if you choose to sit at your table. The waiters and waitresses will come to you and take your order for your meal.

If you have chosen to wait in the bar or the lounge until your meal is ready, your waiter or waitress will then come and collect you when your meal is about to be served.

We offer both a table d'hote menu at a fixed price and an 'a la carte'

Please make your choice from our extensive wine list and our staff will be happy to ensure that your wine is ready at your table when you go to eat your meal.

Drinks and wine from the bar may be charged to your room bill if you so wish.

A selection of sweets is shown on the menu and your waiter/waitress will be happy to take your order. If however you would like to sample our speciality "West Country" cheese board we recommend that you order your choices of cheese before you go to your table.

Cafetier coffee in 2 cup, 4 cup or 8 cup pots, with mints, can be served at the end of your meal either at your table or in the resident's lounge.

Bar Opening Times

The bar is open to the public from midday until 3.00 pm in the afternoon.

The bar opens to the public at 6.00 pm in the evening until 11.00 pm except on Sundays when it closes at 10.30 pm.

How to get in late at night or when the hotel door is bolted.

If you are going out to explore the countryside please take your room key with you as the Yale key on your keyring opens the door at the top of the building and gives you access to the hotel when the main doors are locked.

The main door is normally locked between the hours of 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm and 11.30 pm to 7.30 am.

Departure

On the morning of the day you are due to leave us, having paid your bill, please vacate your room by 11.00 am and leave your room key at reception.

We make every effort to help our guests enjoy their stay as much as possible. Therefore if there is anything you are unhappy about during your stay please tell us immediately.

If you are happy with everything, please tell your friends.
